[... The last time the public heard the violin concerto by Johannes Brahms in D major was only this summer and it had been provided by violin star David Garrett.

Exactly this over dimensioned and very demanding piece was the center point of the guest performance of the Northwestgerman Philharmonie under the accomplished direction of Eugene Tzigane and has been offered by the Konzertverein.

This time the solo violin was played by experienced soloist Sabrina-Vivian Höpcker. Born in Hamburg the exceptional musician and winner of the International „Abbado Violin Competition“ dominated in the course of the movements through the gorgeously shimmering sound of her violin playing. She satisfied in this rather bulkily written work by Brahms with a solid bow technique, even in tricky altitudes on the fingerboard and shined throughout with brilliant expressiveness. Sabrina-Vivian Höpcker is one of the most sought-after young musicians and visited in the past masterclasses with the legendary artists Isaac Stern and Yehudi Menuhin. The soloist, who was literally celebrated in the packed concert hall, led every single nuance to inner depth and focus - especially in the gorgeously sounding Adagio of the violin concerto.
