Highlight of the evening

Highlight of the evening was the interpretation of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor by Soloist Sabrina-Vivian Höpcker and the Northwest German Philharmonie, as the work was allowed to reveal his consummate charm and grace. The young soloist who is one of the internationally acclaimed, sensational violin virtuosos of our time, stressed the perfect beauty of the solo part, by playing with slender tone, lyrical sensitivity and heartfelt expression. Here, the orchestra could emancipate itself from merely accompanying and -sensitively led by Matthias Hellmons- occur as an equal partner in a spirited dialogue with the soloist. I particularly enjoyed the round, finely tuned sound of the woodwinds that harmonized enchantingly with the solo violin.
